America’s River by Dubuque artist Gary Olsen, was commissioned by the Rotary Club of Dubuque on its 100th Anniversary and celebrates its commitment to one of the most ambitious civic development projects in its history, The America’s River Project. It changed a large part of Dubuque’s riverfront from heavy industrial to something more accessible for recreation while providing an exciting showcase for our historical Mississippi River heritage. The construction of the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, a new home for businesses, and a dramatic vista that frames Dubuque’s natural and historic architectural beauty are among the gains from Rotary Club’s commitment to this project. Rotary Club was the first community service organization to financially support the project 15 years ago. A plaque commemorates this support on the Riverfront Pavilion that is at the center of Gary Olsen’s painting. The limited edition print recreates Gary’s painting on archival paper and measures 33 by 20 inches.
