| Our President Welcomes You to Rotary | |||
Rotary International has a decentralized structure, with local clubs that are autonomous and community-based. Each service club works to improve the quality of life at home and around the world. Rotary members have the collective expertise and skills to implement dynamic and sustainable programs in the areas of hunger, poverty, and illiteracy, with particular emphasis on children, the aging, and the disabled. We would love to have you join us on this mission of hope and faith in the human condition. This message is your open invitation to attend any of our Tuesday luncheons. It’s fun and inspirational. | The Membership Roster is Online! We are testing a new format for our membership listing. Normally a printed membership book would cost the club several hundred dollars. With an online listing, the content never becomes obsolete because it can continually be updated. Members can print the list from their home computer if they want a hard copy. Give it a look. |
Dubuque Rotary Club 5970 of Rotary International, meets at the Dubuque Golf and Country Club 1800 Randall Place (off North Grandview) in Dubuque every Tuesday at Noon. Buffet lunch is served, and prospective members receive a free lunch. |

Rotary Scholarships
Again this year, the Rotary Club of Dubuque has awarded scholarships to seniors at six area high schools. One senior was selected from each school to receive a $1500.00 scholarship. The recipients include: Western Dubuque High School – Aaron Horsfield, $1500.00. Dubuque Senior High School – Amanda Brosius, $1500.00. Central Alternative High School – Brandon Robey, $1500.00. Wahlert High School – Katherine Mockler, $1500.00. Hempstead High School – Jessica Williams, $1500.00. East Dubuque High School – Christin Selle, $1500.00. According to the Rotary Scholarship chair Kimberly Tully, these monies are collected from the members throughout the year at the weekly meetings. |

Sam Yamoah returned from his trip to Africa, and he brought back a splendid banner to add to our collection. It gives one pause when you gaze upon this and the hundreds of banners from around the world. Leaders joined by a common goal of improving one's community and the world for the greater good. At left, Sam poses with a laminated copy of the Telegraph Herald front page on which Sam appeared in an article about his participation in community service activities.

The Community & Human Development Committee of the Rotary Club of Dubuque (CHDC) grant financial gifts to nonprofit organizations that represent the common interests of Rotary International:
Service Above Self. The committee accepts grant applications annually from October 1st through
November 15th. The CHDC then meets in January to review all properly submitted applications and
decides which organizations receive grants and what dollar amounts the grants will be. There are two requirements upon receiving a grant from the CHDC:
If your organization is interested in applying for a grant, please click the following link: Application, complete the online grant application, and the application will be forwarded to the committee. All applications must be received between October 1st and November 15th. Only those applications that are complete and submitted between October 1st and November 15th will be eligible for a grant.
