Club Stories
Two Cedar Rapids Rotarians will begin a Flight Around the World to End Polio on April 22, 2022 (delayed due to the Pandemic).  The speakers at our Club's February 18, 2020 meeting, Peter Teahen and John Ockenfels, are raising awareness for polio eradication by piloting a single-engine aircraft all the way around the globe in 51 days. Only 700 pilots in history have ever achieved this feat and less than 300 are alive today.

Peter and John will take off from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in a Piper Lance (single-engine) airplane. Along the way, they will encourage the support of ending polio forever throughout the world.

Both Peter and John are pilots, Rotarians and members of the Fellowship of Flying Rotarians. Polio eradication has been a primary focus of Rotary for over 35 years and continues to be a major initiative. While the end of polio may be near, no child anywhere is safe until every child has been vaccinated. Click here for more information about their trip, to follow them along their flight and to donate toward the cause.
WE CONNECT PEOPLE

Our Dubuque Club of 130+ members gathers weekly to exchange ideas, form friendships, make professional connections, and bring our resources together to support our local community. Our club also extends to a larger network of 1 million Rotarians across the globe.
WE TRANSFORM COMMUNITIES

We take action through completing projects with lasting impact. Investing in our community through the Welcome Sign Project, River’s Edge Pavilion, donations through our Humanitarian Grant Fund, and countless volunteer hours. We show up and take action for our community.
