Meet Up Location is Flora Park

The Rotary Club of Dubuque will be working with Dubuque Trees Forever on the spring planting project and is in need of volunteers.

The project is scheduled for Saturday, May 12 (approximately 9am-noon) at 20-25 different planting sites around town. We’ll be providing replacement trees for the ash trees that were removed from the space between the sidewalk & curb in front of many homes this winter due to the Emerald Ash Borer.
Rotary is expected to have about 25 volunteers and will be working alongside volunteers from Dubuque Trees Forever on this project. Many of the duties are non-physical in nature so all ages and abilities are welcome. In addition to removing old soil and planting the trees, there is a need for people to provide brochures and homeowner education about their new tree and for people to help setup and serve snack/beverage to the volunteers and the congregation point.

Please email us if you’re interested in helping and indicate if you’re up to the physical duties or if you prefer a non-physical role. Each are just as important to the process.
The project will happen in a light rain.

For 20+ years, Rotary Club of Dubuque has enjoyed a continued partnership with the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) of Dubuque County to provide immunizations for area youth – kindergarten thru high school age. Each year over 100 area children receive immunizations and dental checks.

Scheduled childhood vaccinations are among the basics of effective child health care. Unfortunately, some children of families in need in our community may not get their shots, placing their long-term health care at risk. Rotary Club contributes funds annually to pay for vaccines and volunteer Rotarians assist by signing in children, helping nurses hold infants and comfort frightened children, and hand out prizes for “bravery”.
